Following an incident on Mother's Day 2011 in which four people
were rescued after going over Lookout Point in Casparis, the fire
department evaluated its resources and those which were utilized
from other area fire departments during the extensive rescue
operation. It was realized that the Polaris Ranger was a crucial
piece of equipment for patient, firefighter and equipment
transportation to and from the remote site. During our annual
Firemen's Banquet the Ladies Auxiliary informed the Fire Chief that
they would be donating the Polaris Ranger to the department. The
Polaris was purchased in late December and the department
recently took delivery.

Each year the Fayette County Fireman's
Association holds a Fire Prevention Essay
Contest. A fire safety topic is given and
students throughout Fayette County are
asked to write essays and submit them for
judging. William "Tommy" Deason is a sixth
grader in Mrs. Cooper's class at Zach
Connell School. Several students in Mrs.
Cooper's class participated in the contest.
Deason won Second Place in his age
category. Tommy's essay will now move on
to compete in the Western Pennsylvania
Fireman's Association contest to be judge
later this year.
